Now we know it's wrong. If you are a child of God, you might very well know that it is wrong. But many of us prefer to push the envelope.
Most importantly many of us are often INDISTINGUISHABLE from our non-Christian friends, sharing the same activities, music, jokes, and attitudes about premarital sex, and the likes.
"How far can I go and still be called a Christian?"
You are asking the wrong question.
We should ask: "How holy can I be?"
A search for mere excellence is inadequate approach to God, leaving us vulnerable to snare after snare. Our only hope is OBEDIENCE.
Don't mix the standards of this world with those of God. Clearly God expects us to live according to His standards.
Romans 13:12-13 (New Living Translation)
12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. 13 Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
Live by God's standard. Do not mix the ways of this world; do not compromise your relationship with Christ. Live everyday for Him, because He died for you!

13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

I whole heartily agree. Many of today's so called "parishioners" and "pious" Christians and Catholics are really at a loss of identity. Today, while watching "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" I heard Steve Harvy mention his "90 Days" rule. It was basically his dogma of when couples should pop the question--of course, this question was not that of marriage but of the commencement of a "physical" relationship. What is the meaning behind marriage these days then? Is the union between a man and a woman no longer mutual to the Lord? Why SHOULD someone ask if he or she should go far and attempt to HIDE from His judgment? In a sense, it is a hypocrisy both to one's master and to one's very own soul. Why live a life behind a mask? As written by Daylet: "Live everyday for Him, because He died for you!" He is our life source, our path, our future.
